Reservation & Ticketing
Ticketing:

Ticketing is the process of issuing a ticket for a reserved travel product. The ticket serves as proof of purchase and includes important information such as the passenger's name, travel dates, flight or hotel details, and fare class. The ticketing process typically involves the following steps:

Collecting payment: The travel agent will collect payment from the customer for the reserved travel product. Payment can be made by credit card, cash, or check.

Issuing the ticket: Once payment is received, the travel agent will issue the ticket. In the case of a flight, the agent will issue an electronic ticket (e-ticket), which is stored in the airline’s reservation system. For a hotel or rental car reservation, the agent will provide a voucher or confirmation email.

Providing the ticket to the customer: The travel agent will provide the ticket to the customer, either by email or in person. The customer should review the ticket for accuracy and keep it in a safe place for their trip.

Tools used by Travel Agencies for Reservation and Ticketing:
Global Distribution Systems (GDS): GDS are computer networks that provide travel-related information and reservation services to travel agencies worldwide. The three main GDS providers are Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport.

Online booking engines: Online booking engines are web-based tools that allow customers to make reservations and purchase tickets directly from a travel agency's website. Popular online booking engines include Booking.com, Expedia, and Orbitz.

Airline reservation systems: Airline reservation systems are used by travel agencies to search for availability and make reservations on behalf of customers. The main airline reservation systems are Amadeus, Sabre, and Travelport.

Reservation and ticketing are essential services provided by travel agencies. The process involves gathering information, searching for availability, making reservations, collecting payment, and issuing tickets. Travel agencies use various tools and systems, such as GDS, online booking engines, and airline reservation systems, to streamline the reservation and ticketing process. By providing a seamless and hassle-free experience, travel agencies can help customers plan and enjoy their trips.
